The creation of a painting.
Watch this 5.5 minute video of me painting “Bewitching Blooms” – my latest oil painting.
Art at home challenge.
This is my #artathomechallenge creation. A reenactment of Norman Rockwell’s “Triple self portrait”. Staged and photographed in my newly renovated studio cabin. Just for fun!
New painting
Check out my latest painting, and tell me what you think. It’s all about the ferns!
Paris art galleries
If you ever get a chance to visit Paris, as I did this Spring, take a deep breath and venture into the Louvre. The Louvre is considered the world’s greatest art museum, for good reason; it is home to an amazing spectrum of art.
It is somewhat overwhelming, but viewing Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa firsthand is now off my bucket list.
If you love French Impressionism (as I do) the Musée d’Orsay is the place to view it.
Home to the largest collection of artwork by Monet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Seurat, Sisley, Gauguin and Van Gogh, the Musée d’Orsay is housed in an old railway station. The collection is mesmerizing.
In both art museums, I will admit, there were times I was frustrated by trying to look at art through lofted cell phones. We have become impulsive about documenting moments in our life. My approach; look at art with your eyes instead of through a lens. Simply enjoy.
Riopelle and Mitchell exhibit at AGO
Check out the Riopelle/Mitchell Exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
It ventures deep in to the world of abstract art.
These large scale paintings explode with colour, movement and texture.
“Nothing in Moderation”.
Take the plunge … it’s well worth it.
This exhibit runs until May 6th.
New painting
Check out my newest painting. It’s big; it’s blue; it’s bold!
Georgia O’Keeffe Exhibit at AGO
The Georgia O’Keeffe Exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario (until July 30) is worth checking out.
Georgia was best known for her very large paintings of flowers. In addition, New York skyscrapers and southwest landscapes were subjects of her works.
O’Keeffe was an American Modernists who felt: “When I paint a huge scale flower, you cannot ignore it’s beauty.”
New painting
Check out my new painting. Inspired by late spring flowers, it’s part of my Kaleidoscope Series. It’s called “Peonies”.
Small paintings
I just finished some small paintings. 5 x 7 in. and 8 x 8 in. Some on stretched canvas, others on birch wood panels. Small but full of colour and motion. Check them out in my Gallery and tell me what you think.
